Backup and disaster recovery

Life QI's infrastructure, which is backed by Amazon Web Services' (AWS) policies and procedures, is set up to ensure maximum security. AWS provides all the necessary facilities for Life QI's data to be backed up and recovered in the event of failure, including the utilisation of frequent server instance backups, data redundancy replication, and multi-region/availability zone deployment architectures (this allows data traffic to be moved away from the affected area into another area within the same region).

System availability

As a web hosted solution the system is designed to be available to users 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (excluding maintenance periods). We have measures in place to ensure the solution remains constantly available, and aim to achieve 99.9% availability. Our team are on duty 24 hours a day and are backed up by AWS' datacentre team dedicated to maintaining constant service availability. All of AWS' datacentres are online and serving customers; no datacentre is "cold". In case of failure, automated processes move customer data traffic away from the affected area to another availability zone in the same region. In addition, there are discrete uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and onsite backup generation facilities. AWS' Availability Program and services are subject to audits and certifications according to several global best practices and government standards.
